Sustenta Polymers

Sustenta Polymers is a Mexican company committed with global sustainability throughout Research and Development, production and distribution of sustainable plastic raw materials.

Sustainability is the efficient administration of natural resources to maintain the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony to support present and future generations preserving equilibrium among Economic, Ecologic and Social matters.

Bio Plastics

Bioplastics, a plastic material is defined as a bioplastic if it is either biobased, biodegradable, or features both properties. Bioplastics are “partially or fully biobased and/or biodegradable.”

Biobased: The term ‘biobased’ means that the material or product is (partly) derived from biomass (plants). Biomass used for bioplastics could come from; corn, sugarcane, bagasse, cellulose or other natural fibers.

Biodegradable plastics are those that through a chemical process microorganisms degrade plastic into carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and water (H20) through biological action in a defined environment and in a defined timescale. These environments include composting, anaerobic digestion, marine and soil environments.

“Biobased” does not equal “biodegradable”

A bioplastic that is biobased may not necessarily be biodegradable, and a biodegradable bioplastic may not be biobased.

Sustenta Polymers focuses in the production of partially Biobased Bioplastics through the incorporation of natural fibers into conventional plastics, this process is possible due to multiple agreements with research centers throughout the world that develop state of the art technologies.

Focused on promoting the circular economy for plastics that prioritizes the extension of product life cycles, extracting maximum value from resources in use, and then recovering materials at the end of their service life.
